It is in the shape and size of a large olive with a hard core. While it is green at first, it turns red and black-purple as it matures. The outermost skin is leathery and thin, the pulp (the soft part) is hard and close to white, as in an apple. But within a few hours it turns yellow and softens. In a few days, the crust will also shrivel. Pulp is sweet delicious
